Fighting the 4C Battle

Well, when I became natural about a year and 7 months ago and did my big chop, I began to become very doubtful that my hair would grow. But I didn't call it quits and give into my temptation to perm. I stuck to my natural hair regime and somehow, it seems that my hair, being extremely course and all, has actually grown! The trick is to treat it like it's a special project. So this is to all the 4c's out there who are feeling down about whether their hair can pass the teeny weeny afro stage and continue to retain length. It can!! Don't give up. These are some pics I took after lightly blowing it out for the first time myself.  In a few months it will be 2 years since I did my big chop. Wow. Where did all that time go.

  6. To tell you the truth, there is really no way i can be sure it works. When I take it though, I feel like it does. I use the gnc women's hair skin and nails formula in the blue box. I get lazy though and sometimes only take it like 3 to 2 times a week.

  7. Hello
What is your hair regimen. I read on your sisters blog that you don't do much. what is not much routine. i am at a frustrating point with my natural hair though natural for a VERY long time. I get twists in here and there - but i feel as though it breaks off my hair and i try not to have it in for more than 3 weeks at a time. Do share. I would love to really learn what you do and implement it. Thanks

  8. Okay. I will do a posting on my natural hair regimen, to hopefully help others with really coarse hair like mine. Of course, it works the same on hair not as course also. I'm curious though, how long have you been natural and how long is your hair when stretched?

  9. I have been natural for about 9 years. I spent the first half having no idea what to do with it - this was before the days of natural hair blogs. There was a period where I treated my hair like an egg, then made a Dominican blow out mistake which caused tons of hair loss.

When stretched it is about an inch- an inch and a half shorter than yours. Thus i am very impressed you were able to retain such length in under two years. My hair is also coarse.

    Thanks.
